The language of this text is straightforward, simple and unadorned. When introducing Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, it accurately tells the readers the establishment time of it, focuses on the local active volcanoes, and mentions the local environment. From the perspective of information, the amount of information in the English text is far less from that in the Chinese text which introduces the West Lake, and it just repeats the key information of volcano. However, Chinese tourism material generally contains a large amount of introduction of natural scenery, as well as a large number of historical figures, events, and allusions. From the perspective of language expression, this text uses eight adjectives to describe the appearance and characteristics of the volcano, among which only “dramatic” and “outstanding” are emotional, and other adjectives are all objective. Therefore, its expression function is less strong than Chinese.
