摘要随着社会的发展与进步，体育事业在人类文明中的地位也越来越重要，而在各种各样的体育赛事中，体育激励语在营造良好竞技氛围，提高运动员心理素质，以及增强比赛看点中，发挥着不可或缺的作用。本文以青奥会等赛事中的体育激励语为例，在相关研究的基础上，采用语料分析法和文献法对本课题进行定性研究，从英汉体育激励语的适用场合和使用频率两方面，探讨英汉体育激励语的特点。30303

Title A Comparative Study of English and Chinese Incentive Phrases in Sports —— Taking Incentive Phrases in Youth Olympic as Examples
Abstract
With the development and progress of society, the position of sports causes in human civilization is becoming more and more important. However, during all kinds of sports events, incentive phrases play an indispensable role in making a favorable competitive atmosphere, enhancing athletic psychological diathesis, and improving the game’s attractiveness. This paper will take incentive phrases in Youth Olympic as examples. It will give a qualitative analysis based on the relevant studies. It will use the method of corpus analysis and document analysis to discuss the features of English and Chinese incentive phrases from the occasions and frequency of using incentive phrases.

1 Introduction
Physical education is a complex socio-cultural phenomenon. With the development of international connection, the level of sports causes has been a very important standard of a country or a society. Also, it becomes a vital way for cultural communication. During a sport event, an incentive atmosphere seems to be very important to athletes. However, how to make the incentive effect effective, and what are the common grounds and differences between English incentive phrases and Chinese became a new issue we can discuss.
However, with the development of people’s acquaintance and reformation, the practical significance of those incentive phrases is not as same as before. We think that the word “Encouragement” can express the meaning of those incentive phrases better.
1.1 Research Background
Having studied a lot of references, we can see that many scholars have made researches in sports culture, sports news, and sports service. Also, there are many researches concerning with incentive phrases, humorous language and euphemism. Most of those studies were separated, as for those papers study sports causes, they always analyze the differences between English and Chinese translation in vocabulary. When it comes to the study of incentive phrases, they always selected data from our daily life or our education.
All in all, we want to study incentive phrases in sports games to analyze their meaning and function in different aspects. As William James, a famous American psychologist, defined, a person who was not given incentive power can develop just 20%-30% ability; while when he was given some incentive power, he can develop as much as 80%-90% (Qiu, 2003). So it is as important as our sports causes, not only for those athletes, but also for us audiences. We need to learn the similarities between English and Chinese incentive phrases, so that we can make a good communication in the competition, as well as our relationship. What is more, we need to find the differences between them, so as to learn from each other and make a better cultural communication.
