Title Design of 3dB Coupler Based on LTCC
Abstract
Low temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) is an effective method to realize the miniaturization, high reliability and low cost for microwave and high-frequency devices. For the design of coupler, which is the key device in microwave and high-frequency circuits, structure and accomplish technology with better performance were discussed. According to the basic theory and analysis of simulation, three kinds of 3dB coupler based on LTCC technology were designed in the thesis. Firstly, the LTCC coupler with broadside coupled line structure was given and the working frequency is 1.4~1.8GHz. Then according to the requirements of image rejection mixer (IRM) in receiving systems , two kinds of LTCC 3dB quadrature couplers using lumped elements were designed based on the even-odd decompositon method, and their working frequency is 50~70MHz. The third one is improved based on the second one, while the size is only 14.7mm×8.4mm×1mm, with a novel and compact structure. Three dimensional electromagnetic simulation results show that these two new LTCC IF 3dB couplers have good performance, better than the couplers existing and can be widely used in the microwave integrated communication systems.
